In Response To: New USAPL Website: Thank you! (Larry Maile)

Thanks for asking about grass roots members. That is one thing that I have stressed over the years. We have shifted the focus from our international competitors, at least in terms of funding.

We restarted the newsletter, currently in brief hiatus to reorganize and double the pages to 32.

We work with meet organizers to up the level of competition so that the lifters at the local and state level get good value.

And, the upshot: it has been effective. In the first four months of 2008, we are up more than 500 members over the same period last year. In fact, March had the most membership signups in our history in a single month.
