Re: Ron Beuch in England

I benched twice in the shirt at Butler's gym in Worcester. As usually happens when you bench over 400lbs in a new gym I had people tell me all about their local benchers. I told them I would be back in a week and would love to talk to anyone who competed in drug tested bench press meets.
As I finished my second work, out a couple of guys from the British Powerlifting Federation (associated with the IPF) came in to talk to me about lifting with bench shirts. They currently lift raw. Both of them had just seen and talked with Julian Massey a couple of weeks earlier at a British national meet.
One of them (Gary Conway I think) had a shirt but he only had it on once about a year before and never actually lifted in it. He said it took 3 guys 20 minutes to put it on him and felt really awkward. So I put the shirt on him in about two minutes and he was amazed at how it felt and fit. The other guy was about my size and said that shirts ran at least a hundred pounds (almost $200 dollars)in England so I gave him the one I had just worked out in (told him to wash it in woolite and cold water). I gave them what tips I had on training with the shirt. They seem very happy with the information and promised to keep me posted on their progress. I had been there about four hours at that time and my wife and friends were waiting back at the Diglis Hotel for me so I had to bolt. I am definitely still Ugly old friend, but hopefully not as an American. Cant wait to see you in July.
