Hey! Hey! Hey! I resent the remark about the Referee Union falling down!!
Being President of the Referees Union first they make me give up the Mercedes, then the condo in Miami.
I know things are tight but come on!!!!
As far as using National Referees at National Meets,
I have had several National Referees contact me with the desire to referee at National Meets. In many cases, when I contact them, they either wont travel or have other plans.(same with some IPF Referees)
Some National Referees that made plans to officiate in fact did so.(they should let us know at least a month in advance if not longer)
At High School Nationals I had 1/3 National Referees and gave any that wanted the experience, time as Head Referee.
When possible I like to have conformation from referees at least six weeks out, then again I check twice before the meet itself so I have time to balance the schedule.
This sounds easy, but so many times we cant get a conformation from both National and IPF Referees till the last minute.
