Partially correct. I was hoping Larry might answer but I think he's too busy getting skewered "elsewhere" so I'll give it a try. LOL

There are differences that aren't going to work. IPF requires kilo sets. If we enforced that in the US, we'd lose meet directors at the local level. IPF wants more IOC testing. Again, the cost of that on the local level isn't practical etc given the number of tests we perform. Given the profit/loss margin on local meets the number of tests would fall far below the 10 percent level if the cost of the tests rose that much. Right now, steroid panels cost $75 bucks a pop. Add in the full IOC panel and that just about triples if I recall correctly. That comes out of the meet directors pocket (there is a reimbursment if all paperwork is processed on time but the bulk of it comes out of the meet directors pocket - which really means it comes out of the lifters pockets. There are other things but you get the idea.

Some things are cultural - kilo vs pounds as a requirement. Many meet directors use kilo sets but 45s are far more popular in the us than 20 kilo plates.

Some things, like testing, are procedural/financial.
