The Passing of Mr. Alaniz

Posted By: Larry Maile
Date: Monday, 23 June 2008, at 9:01 a.m.

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Mr. Pete Alaniz (Senior) at 5:30 yesterday afternoon. He had been ill for some time, but of course we all had hopes that he would pull through. Mr. Alaniz was a personal friend, an ardent supporter of USA Powerlifting and of many of our individual lifters and teams. We will miss him.

Here is the message Pete sent out after the passing: "On Sunday June 22, 2008 Mr. P.F. Alaniz passed away at his home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a patriot, devoted family man, respected local businessman, a co-founder of Titan Support Systems, Inc. and a genuine supporter of the sport of powerlifting.
His influence helped shape the direction of international powerlifting as we know it today. His ready smile, his encouragement and his quick cheer for all lifters will be missed. His spirit lives on."

We will have further information on arrangements and where you can send your regards to the family.

It is a sad day,
LJM
