There are more objective rules other than kicking tail...it takes more than your reputation to get you to worlds (thankfully!).

The idea is the highest total in the age-group, in the weight class makes the world team. Should the top (fr'instance) subjunior aged 114 choose to NOT go to subjunior worlds, the place on the team is NOT given to the next 114...ALL the subjunior aged lifters will (after both qualifying meets) be ranked (their total vs the totals at worlds), and the highest ranked of these ALTERNATES will get a phone call.
