Which is the real BP nationals? Repost

In Response To: 2006 Bench Press Nat. in Sept (Jennifer Thompson)

How does this make any sense that we will have TWO nationals in one year? How is that fair to any of the lifters that lifted this past weekend? Are we to tell them sorry, but you really did not win because the real bench nationals are in September. What about the money people spent and the time change adjustment they made in order to lift in Colorado? If I was a lifter I would want my money back!

Additionally, what about the meet director (Dan Gaudreau)? He ran what he thought would be a national meet spent his time and money promoting the event. Instead of congratulating him on a job well done, we pull the rug right from underneath him and say that the event is not done right or the right people did not show up.

I hear many people say that there are too many federations and dozens of "national champions." Yet in our own organization is going to take the direction of staging two national championships. How does this help us to be creditable?

I really have no vested interest in the meet, but how does this make the situation any better? Why not readjust the schedule next year, like what was done this year?
