Prelim. nominations posted for IPF Masters Worlds

The preliminary nominations have been submitted for the 2008 IPF Masters World Powerlifting Championships presented by CON-CRET which will be held September 30-October 4 at the Palm Springs Convention Center in Palm Springs, CA.

In all, 331 lifters (including 18 reserves) have been nominated by 29 nations from every continent which may make this year’s IPF Masters Worlds one the best attended in the history of the IPF. The final nominations are due on September 9, 2008.

Top current and former World Champions on the US team include Paula Houston, Ruth Welding, Malinda Baum, Jill Arnow Sue Hallen and Harriet Hall among the women and Eric Kupperstein, Greg Page, Sam Alduenda, Laddie Gibson, Mike Bridges, Gary Pamplin, Bill Helmich, Tony Harris, William Morris, Steven Green and Brad Gillingham among the men.

The World Championships will be comprised of activities throughout the week dedicated to promoting the sport of powerlifting and enhancing the experience of its international attendees. The championships begin on Tuesday, September 30th with the Opening Ceremonies and continue throughout the week to Saturday with athletes and officials participating in a media reception, Palm Springs Villagefest, the Closing Banquet and world class competition.
