Besides all the good points a lot of you mentioned.
What I notice at some of the meets I've been to is that some spotters tend to get lazy watching closely after each and every attempt. I know it can get tiring from spotting and loading all day and by the 3rd attempts, which is most crucial for misses, can become quite overwhelming mentally and physically. I also watch some spotters, whether its the lifters own, or the volunteer get too excited watching the lift and forget what their job is at the moment of excitement. I think it's important for a spotter to be on top of things at all times, because you never know when a bar will fly towards one's head or slip out of the lifters hands...it only takes a split second for a incident to occur...
maybe rotate spotters/loaders more frequently after flights? Judges could politely remind spotters to watch more carely if they see a spotter getting lazy? Just my thoughts.
