My guess is what kind of bench do you regularly train on, and how is the bench different than the competition bench. (For instance, how wide is the bench and how high is it off the floor.) I train on a Westside style bench. Which is completely different than the competition bench. I think it's more narrow, and it is a little higher off the floor, all effecting how I bench on it.
