This could go on & on. You keep answering your own questions.
Bottom line is this.
If the bar (end, side, top, bottom,)THE BAR has lower motion, its the same as downward motion is the same as dipping motion etc.
The bar cannot go in a downward motion when pressing up.
Now, slight uneven extension will not cause the one side to dip while the otherside goes up, but a more severe uneven extension will do that.
Too bad we dont bench pencils.
