Session 3 – 1 flight – 56-67.5 kgs

Squats –
1st Attempts –
PATADE Satish Murlidhar – IND – 130 kgs –bows to bar – grabs it and ducks under – solid walkout – head up, gets command and squats easily – good lift
Pentti REMPI – FIN – 145 is up next another easy opener – good lift - I like saying this guys name PENTI REMPI
Masahiro IRIE _ JPN – 152.5 – slow descent – no lift
Bryan Brothers CAN – 190kgs – nice and deep – lift is good 3 whites
Michael Gardiner – NZL – 200 kgs - easy opener 3 whites
Same weight – Hironori NIWA – JPN – a little slow on the way p but good lift
Bar to 210 kgs for Takaaki MIZUNO JPN – wow – no lift spotter grab
Eric KUPPERSTEIN USA – 225 – bad set up – torso arched but leaning way over– return bar to racks – reset and an easy lift – 3 whites
MEJIA MEDINA – Erick DeJesus – COL – 230 kgs down and up but I think he was high – no lift
Karel RUSO CZE – 235 kgs - power grunts – down deep and up fast

2nds
Patade jumps to 145 kgs – down and up easy again – whites
IRIE – repeats opener of 152.5 kgs - . Got command and no lift
RIMPI – 155 – good lift
BROTHERS – CAN 200 – 3 whites a little slower than the last but looked good – not sure he has a lot left
MIZUNO – JPN – repeats opener of 210 kgs down and up fast 2 whites to one red
NIWA – JPN – 210 kgs – attacked weight more aggressively this time and looked much better than opener – good lift
GARDINER – NZL 215 kgs whoa no lift in a big way – great save by spotters
MEJIA MEDINA COL – 230 kgs repeat of opener – down and up back to the racks – 2 reds
KUPPERSTEIN USA – 235 kgs - looked to stagger on walkout – gets command . down and up but no lift – bar dipped down?
RUSO – CZE – again down fast but stopped part way up – no lift

3rd attempts
IRIE –152.5 kgs needs this to stay in meet – down and up easy – ohhhh no lift – depth
PATADE – IND 155 kgs – good lift 3 for 3
RIMPI – FIN – 160 kgs - 2 whites
BROTHERS – CAN – 205 kgs good fight but lost it at top - I thought he’d get this– no lift
GARDINER – NZL – 215 kgs - repeat of second – after a bad miss on second he nailed this one pretty easily – good lift
MIZUNO – JPN – 220kgs – no lifta –
NIWA – JPN – 220 no lift – another good save by spotters
MEJIA MEDINA – needs this lift to stay in meet to total – 230 kgs – nope – no lift took it deeper this time but got stuck on the bottom
KUPPERSTEIN – 235 – repeat of 2nd attempt –I guess that’s just how he walks out – down and up for 3 whites – made it look pretty easy this time
RUSO – CZE – 255 kgs – repeat of 2nd – down fast and up slowly but got it nicely – 3 whites

Bench Press

1st attempts
BROTHERS CAN – 95 kgs – down nice pause – good lift
RUSO – CZE – 100 KGS – good lift
IRIE – Same weight – good lift
PATADE – 102.5 kgs – easy opener
RIMPI – FIN – 105 kgs – good lift
MEJIA MEDINA – no lift – didn’t listen to commands
NIWA – 120 kgs – no lift –
GARDINER _ NZL - 125kgs – easy lift – 3 whites
KUPPERSTEIN – USA – 125 kgs – easy – 3 whites
MIZUNO - JPN – 170 kgs slow descent – up fast – 2 whites

2nd attempts
BROTHERS CAN – 100 kgs - a little slow but good – 3 whites
RUSO – CZE – 105 - good lift – slow up but made it
IRIE – JPN – 105 – good lift – 2 whites – red from head
RIMPI – FIN – 110 – Good lift
Same weight for PATADE IND – 110 kgs – easy lift – 2 whites
MEJIA MEDINA – 115 kgs repeat of opener – finally got a lift in – 3 whites – easy lift
NIWA – JPN – 120 kgs – 2 reds –
KUPPERSTEIN USA – 132.5 kgs – good lift
GARDINER – NZL – 135 kgs –easy lift 3 whites
MIZUNO –JPN 180 kgs no lift

BROTHERS CAN – 105 kgs - a slow grinder but he beat gravity – 3 whites
RUSO CZE 107.5 kgs –good lift – nice fight at top
IRIE 110 kgs – made first two – and this one too – two whites
RIMPI – FIN – 112.5 kgs – good lift
PATADE – IND – 112.5 – came up petty easy no lift red card –
NIWA – JPN two misses – makes it on 3rd
MEJIA MEDINA – spotters make another great save. He’s 1 for 6
KUPPERSTEIN – 137.5 kgs – no lift
GARDINER – NZL – 140 kgs made first two nice lift – two whites
MIZUNO – 180 kgs missed this one on second and the third as well – no lift

Deads –

1st attempts
PATADE IND 150 –very easy – nice sumo – 3 whites
RIMPI 0 FIN – 155 0 easy opener for RIMPI
IRIE – JPN – 155 kgs easy attempt
MIZUNO – 200 kgs good lift
NIWA JPN – 200 kgs –easy opener
BROTHERS CAN – 202.5 kgs Strong opening attempt
MEJIA MEDINA – the lift is good. 2for 7
RUSO – 2 for 7 the lift is good 230 kgs
GARDINER _ NZL – 230 kgs – good lift
KUPPERSTEIN – USA - 240 kgs strong opener short stroke sumo’

MIZUNO – JPN 210 kgs – very lean, muscular – no lift

RUSO CZE – 232.5 kgs – easy lift 3 whites
GARDINER – NZL – 240 kgs no lift

3rd attempts –
RIMPI –FIN 170 good
IRIE -JPN! 175 kgs hard time locking out but nailed it – good lift
PATADE IND – not today – failed at knee level
MIZUNO JPN – missed on 2nd 0 getting set up….. pulls and misses at knees – looked better than last try
BROTHERS CAN – 220 –kgs – not today missed –bar out n front
MEJIA MEDINA – 230 –kgs no lift failed at the top...2 for 9
NIWA – 230 kgs good lift
GARDINER –NZL 240 kgs repeat from 2nd almost got it to top but lost it – no lift
RUSO CZE – 242. Kgs – lost it on grip – no lift
KUPPERSTEIN passed last attempt

This was a long day despite the fast pace. Awards took a long time because there is a best squat, bench and dead award for each class in addition to the total awards. Didn't finish until after until 11 pm.

I had planned to squat after the last session. Instead, I squatted into bed. I'll try to keep this up but might have to might miss something in order to catch a workout.

Have about an hour and a half before the first session today. I guess I should get moving.
