In Response To: Training bodyweight vs. competition bodyweight (Barrett Marum)

I compete as a "light" 275 class lifter. I weight during training around 255 which is when I lift my best.
I tried to be a 242 lifter, but found the weight loss totally zapped me. Also in a tie situation once, I lost to a guy who was almost 2 lbs lighter than I was. So I bagged the weight loss and lift in 275. Several other lifters in our gym now use this philosophy and have found improved results. Nectar is correct about the small amount over can be lost, but you have to be careful when it is 5% or more you try to lose.
Good luck with what you do. Also listen to Nectar, this guy has impressed me over the years with his knowledge for being a younger lifter.
