"They voted a calender year membership back in, "

Yeah, I heard that was coming......

"you don't have to be an American citizen to lift in the Nationals and win and set American records."

Not really sure how I feel about that one yet. On the one hand, I can see it for someone like Mari, who has a green card, IF they are in the process of becoming an American Citizen. (Not sure if Mari is or not - just pointing out my feeling on it).

On the other hand, there's a golden band. To remind me of someone... wait.. lost my train of thought.... on the other hand, I'm not sure how good an idea it is for Non-Americans to set Non-American records. Can't set state records if you're not registered in that state so why be able to set American Records if you're not an American.

" They changed the way world team members are chosen, going back to the winners of the weight class will be on the World Teams. I voted yes on that one. If you are the National champion, you should have the world team slot."

I'm also torn on that one. I can see it as a reward for having won the Nationals but then again, I can see it making for a weaker world team in some cases. If a so-so lifter won a class due to an absence of good lifters due to injury etc but another class (or classes) was (were) loaded with lifters who might actually have a chance to medal we'd be wasting a world team spot.

For example, a couple of years ago Ray got a controversial bench passed. Had he bombed, and no offense to Ray but he should have bombed that year, my training partner would have won the 198s.

Now, he'd have been happy as hell with a first place at Nationals but he'd be the first one to tell you that there are other guys who deserve to be on the world team moreso that him. We actually discussed the "what ifs" afterwards and this came up.

" Couple of by-law changes that won't affect many people. Lifter may finsh any meet after they bomb, not left up to the meet director anymore."

I can see that at the local/State level for sure but at the Nationals and Worlds, you should be experienced enough to know that if you bomb you just sit your dumb ass down in the audience and get clowned by your friends who told you to lower your openers and who looked at you like you were crazy when you told them what your attempts were.

"We will be using a form like the IPF when you are selected for drug testing, saying you understand you will be drug tested."

Very important. When I'm watching a guy pee, I want him to have a form saying it's for drug testing and not just something I like to do.

"
Also, you can use other ID for age related American Records. Might have been a few more things. Regina"

Thanks Regina.
