It's a sport

It's supposed to be tough

The conditions are supposed to be demanding

It's not supposed to be an exhibition of some abstract principle of strength. It's a competition as to who can do the best under the demanding circumstances of athletic competition. Do you hear football players saying they should have ten timeouts a game and bump the playclock to 60 seconds? No.
If the conditions require that you choose a slightly looser shirt, or plan lower attempts because what you can do with unlimited time in the gym on a day when you only have to work one of the three lifts, then you can do that. You can also take the chance of going heavier and tighter and take a higher risk of a bombout in return for a potential of a bigger lift if you do make it. It's a choice you have to make.

Sports always require tradeoffs, just like a baseball manager choosing to tell his player to swing away or take on 3-0, or a football coach deciding to go for the two point conversion and the win as time expires instead of the PAT and the tie.

That's how sports work, my friend.
