In Response To: hernia surgery recovery question (Ryan)

Ryan,
I had the laproscopic surgery method that Dr. Calvano mentioned done in early Feb. 2004 and competed that May at the Masters National with no medical problems..totals were down because of less training time...I walked around the hospital for about 20 minutes around 3 hrs after surgery and later that day just stopped because it was boring and no good looking nurses to check out. I searched for info for a good while and found out the Doctor in san antonio was consideded one of the world's best and that was only 130 miles away.

What was even neater, is he was cheaper than the surgeons in corpus christi that wanted to do the conventional method...every and I mean every guy i know that had it done that way took much longer to recover and a bunch lost the will to lift...cant say laproscopic is medically better but I have recovered and this past march set american record squat, bench and three lift total for my age and weight in uspf. I walked my butt off for a week, put 135 on my back and wow it felt light but as i started to squat i began to lose my confidence and kind of did a curtsy...then tried again and again with no pain and finally buried one and came up very happy. Regardless, good luck.
