Yea. I've been known to cheer on my competitors during their attempts even if their lift would move them pass me. I only become better by the quality of my opponents to motivate me for the next time we may meet. I can truly state I have never experienced the negative attitude from fellow lifters at meets as is often expressed on these forums. I was a monitor on GoHeavy for a couple years and saw it all. One federation against another, drug free against the drug users, monolift vs. walk outs, equipment against the RAW lifters, etc. And the monitors were always accused of taking one side or another. It got to be kind of funny at times but most of the time it was very sad. There is nothing wrong with having different views and debating those in a civil manner but personal attacks are uncalled for. I do agree having fair and consistent judging at meets is very important to healthy competition. However I thing the "unofficial" expectation of squats having to be "convincingly deep" is as wrong as passing high squats. Breaking parallel is the standard that should be enforced not one or two inches above or below. Good lifting!
