Cheryl,
While I agree 100% with the sentiment of your post and have always seen you as a positive and friendly person in our few interactions, as a communications major you have to realize that posting something like this:

"and I *still* forget that some folk are very, very simple-minded and just cannot read or possess an attention span beyond a 1st-grade level. "

is somewhat provocative and is going to cause even more bad feelings and isn't going to advance any of the changes that I think we would both like to see.

I realize that you probably felt very frustrated and attacked AND I don't know the background behind the situation but someone has got to be the first one to take the first step.
