"Given the 2 hour weigh-in rule for record setting are you proposing that we only allow 1 hour total for the actual weigh-ins?"

No.

I am suggesting that we allow 1 hour between the END of weigh ins and the start of lifting.

The problem we have is that we generally see something like this:

weigh-ins: 7:00-8:30
rules briefing: 8:30
Lifting begins: 9:00

that seemingly allows 30 minutes to to a rules briefing, get the openers entered in the computer, change the flights because a person or two didn't make weight, post the lifting order (after the above is done) and let the lifters WARM UP.

It isn't very realistic at the local level because the rules briefing takes 10-20 minutes. New lifters have questions. Veteran lifters have questions about rule changes if they haven't lifted in a while. Lifters from other feds ask about differences.

What usually happens is that the actual start time is pushed back from the listed time so the lifters in the first flight get time to warm up. When the rules briefing ends, someone generally says, "ok, we'll start at XX:XX o clock."

So, what I'm proposing is that instead of an unrealistic 30 minutes we allow one hour from the end of weigh ins until the lifting starts. That actually would allow for a rules briefing and warmups and starting on time.

At Nationals and Worlds the extra time isn't needed because presumably you are familiar with the rules and there isn't a rules briefing. You weigh, you warmup, you lift. You hopefully get called back for awards, you eat, you drink, you put on crushed velvet pimp suit and act like a moron and try to get Johnny Graham to wear a pimp hat. He declines. (but it's coming Johnny..... you know it's coming.)

At local meets, things are pretty much the same but you have a rules briefing, and you try to get the hat on Lance Slaughter instead of Johnny. Lance is faster than he looks, by the way.
