Ma Bar, a short do#####entary film about 73 year-old Scottish weightlifter Bill McFadyen, directed and produced by Finlay Pretsell (Production & Distribution Manager at the Scottish Do#####entary Institute) and Adrian McDowall (eca graduate, eca tutor and winner of the 1999/2000 BAFTA for Best Short Film for his first film Who’s My Favourite Girl?). Ma Bar is the second short do#####entary film the pair has made about Scottish sporting champions, following 2007’s Standing Start, a short about Olympic cyclist Craig MacLean which was shortlisted for the Bloomberg Best Newcomer Award at this year’s Grierson Awards. Both films will be screening at the 15th Doc/Fest in Sheffield (5 - 9 November 2008).
