The IPF changed it in 94. Thats when I remember using it the first time in the USPF. As Jack M. mentioned in his post, some judges were inconsistent with their calls--some too fast and some too slow and some fell asleep in the chair. That happened to me one time. The judge woke up finally and I got the press command and I actually pressed it out for a good lift. Good ole Jack Hughes. In his eighties and still judging, but never the head judge anymore.

I actually like having no press command and many veteran lifters do also. But having the press command really helps the new lifter and even some seasoned lifters like Jason.
