In Response To: Re: Bench Press command rule change? - NO (Frank Beeler)

"There was a reason they did away with the Press command in the bench press, it was too inconsistent between judges. I’ve seen some of the other federations, the press command is a joke, you get the press signal as soon as it touches the chest, so this will NOT add consistency between federations. I have waited a long time for the press command from a head judge in the past for no explainable reason."

The pause at the chest will always be judged and thus, always be inconsistent. The IPF way means that 3 judges are checking the pause, as opposed to just a head judge giving a, "press" command.

If the IPF goes to 3 commands, I believe that the AAU, USPF, WNPF, and NASA will all follow suit within 2 years.

"We don't do a "deep enough" signal in the squat... "

I've thought about that too. I guess it would be the 1st judge to call out. It just doesn't seem to work out as well in the squat.
