In Response To: Lifter Friendly? (Tom Allred)

Tom and Jason,

I agree that it is confusing and I don't see why the name can't be changed to National Meet Records, in fact, that is the way I think of them but I realize I don't always think like other people.:>)

But I disagree on letting a person set a lifter set a national record at another meet, even one that is close in time and place. Although the meet may be in the same place but the referees may be different. Ok, I know we all are suppose to judge from the same rulebook but let's face it, there are differences in referees. Referees are people and people do not all agree on the same thing. But if you have the same refs in the chairs, then the judging should be the same for all. Then you could argue that they weren't the same when the record was set. American records can be broken and set as long as 3 National or higher refs are in the chair.

My suggestion is: contact any of the Athletic Reps and have a motion made at the next National Governing Board Meeting to get it changed and if enough people agree, the rule will be changed. But it won't change right now.
