2006 IPF World Powerlifting Championships - Day 1 *LINK*

After surfing around the net alittle it appears that the lifting for Day 1 of the 2006 IPF World Powerlifting Championships is over. Today's lifting consisted of the women's 44kg and 48kg weight classes as well as the men's 52kg and 56kg weight classes.

The US women had 3 lifters today (Erin Dickey, Darbara Sieps, and Jonna Ocampo). They captured 15 team points to put the US team in 3rd place. More results are available here: http://www.powerlifting-ipf.com/worlds/woropenpl2006/women.htm

The US men had two lifters competing (Ervin Gainer and Doc Holloway). Holloway reigned in the first medal for the US with his 3rd place finish in the 56kg weight class. Gainer and Holloway's performances picked up 15 points for the US to put the team in 3rd place. More results are available here: http://www.powerlifting-ipf.com/worlds/woropenpl2006/men.htm

According to the schedule, the women's 52kg and 56kg weight classes will be contested along with the men's 60kg and 67.5kg weight classes. Sioux-z Hartwig, Hennis Washington, Caleb Williams are up tommorrow for the US team.
