I THINK (I don't know, but I think) the intent of the "whole-of-the-buttocks" rule is to differentiate between hamstrings and buttocks, and perhaps to cut down on the super-archers who have their feet behind their hips. I'm betting that, if the round part of your ass is in contact with the bench, that you can still arch, flex, whatever, and your lifts will be passed.

I guess time will tell.

Maybe they could have stated "the round part of the lifter's ass...."
