2007 Women's Nationals- updated information

Posted By: Paul Fletcher, Women's Nationals Feb 16,17,18
Date: Sunday, 26 November 2006, at 7:13 a.m.

Here is some updated information- based on input from Gina Stapleton- Women's Committee Chair and Robert Keller- IPF Tech Secretary. I need to call Johnny Graham and then all will be finalized on the entry form.

Only on change for weight classes: 165's will lift on Sunday (instead of Saturday afternoon). I know that there have been a few requests for this event to be a two-day event. The reason that this event is scheduled for three days is based on the last two year's turnout. I think that this meet will peak at close to 150 lifters. In order to run 150 lifters in two days it would take two platforms (so that lifters would not be lifting late into the evening on one platform). I, personally, feel that two platforms detracts from show-casing the lifter (at the national level) and unless the meet is Collegiate Nationals or High School Nationals (where there is usually lots of help for lifters) I should NOT go to two-platforms. Hence the 3 Day session that most of the ladies have requested at the Committee meeting when I bid this event. My schedule plans for a "light day of lifting" on Friday, "medium day of lifting on Sunday", "heaviest day of lifting" on Saturday (where I am assured of having the most help on hand).

Also, of the UTMOST importance is for you to have your Hotel reservations made before January 1. As you may or may not know, Mardi Gras is during this same week. It will be the first full blown Mardi Gras since Hurricane Katrina came through. Hotels will be full. Make your reservations EARLY. Once the hotels fill in January there will be nothing I can do to find additional space. I have blocked 300 rooms for this event. The room block will lift in January- then it is first-come, first serve. It is easy to cancel your reservation but in all cases assure yourself of a room by reserving early.

Thursday, Feb. 15 Schedule:
3:00pm-5:00pm Referees Testing (contact Robert Keller, IPF Tech Secretary)
5:00pm-6:00pm Early Equipment Check (4 stations will be set up)
6:00pm-7:00pm Referees Technical Meeting (update on all IPF rule changes)
7:00pm Women's Committee Meeting (IPF rule changes will be addressed here)
