What's wrong with wanting to win a nice trophy or a sword?

For some average people it might just be the biggest event of their life, and it might just get them to participate even more in our sport.

If awards are not nice it might turn some average people away from our sport.

The ultimate for the better lifter is setting a record and/or winning a National or World title, but these people are in the minority.

For the sport to grow and be accepted concentration must be towards the average lifter, not the elite one.

Yea, I agree that some federations have entirely too many divisions and some lifters come to a meet and "buy" trophies, but some feds don't have all of the divisions.

In the ADAU you can only lift in two divisions, the open and/or your special age group.

Yes, I can sell more trophies to meet directors if they had all of the groups, but choose not to have our program watered down with extra divisions.

Just my 2 cents.
