Yes I have lifted in the USAPL since about 93. I can not honestly say at every single meet I saw everyone benching with their heads on the bench or not. So being who you are in the USAPL, if you say it was a rule before then I believe you. As a lifter, it is annoying to think that I could get red lighted because my head came off the bench. I could see red lighted for my butt coming up, uneven extension, or whatever else. But when we get down to a red light because the head came up, MY OPINION, I don't think that is neccessary. It's not like a lifter gains unfair advantage because their head came up. If anything, the head coming up probably causes the chest to collapse a little. Anyway, this is just one tiny lifter's opinion.
