IPF Bench Rules

These are the changes to the referee's card sytem for faults from the 2007 IPF Rulebook:
1. RED
Bar is not lowered to chest i.e. not reaching the chest or is touching the abdominal area.

2. BLUE
*Any pronounced or exaggerated uneven extension of the arms during the lift.
*Any downward movement of the bar in the course of being pressed out.
*Failure to press the bar to full extension of the arms at the completion of the lift.

3. YELLOW
*Heaving, or sinking the bar after it has been motionless on the chest, in such a way as to aid the lifter.
*Failure to observe the Chief Referees signals at the commencement, during or completion of the lift.

It appears from the changes to the cards that the RED card for lack of pause has been removed. The only choice for a side referee is to hold a YELLOW card for failure to follow the press command of the head referee. The side referee may also give a YELLOW card for other "motionless" fouls including heaving or sinking the bar. The BLUE card now states "pronounced or exaggerated uneven extension" instead of just "uneven extension". I hope this clarifies some of concerns of our lifters.
