I was able to speak to Jeff earlier today and he's ok. He did tear his quad but not the knee ligaments. The noise was the muscle tearing from the bone.

His doctor said it was better in some ways and worse in others. He seemed to be in good spirits and is considering his comeback already. He told me yesterday, and again today, that he plans to be back in time for the 2008 NorCal WC.
