Date: Thursday, 25 January 2007, at 9:34 a.m.I was reading your post on the clone forum. (yes.. morbid curiosity draws me there on occasion). And I have to say that many people do indeed use gear beyond two years. One is the one meet a year lifter. Two is the compulsive lifter. The one meet lifter can easily use the same gear for years. Why do you think we had such an uproar about Marathon gear when it was banned by the IPF? I know that Marathon was making very few suits prior to the ban (a close friend of mine waited six months before he got his) then the company went out of business. How long has it been since Marathon made suits? Its been years now and I still have people to this very day asking if they can wear Marathon suits!
That's a bit longer then 2 years don't you think?
Then you get the compulsive lifter. Lets take me for example. I wore for my first 30+ meets the same suit. The same exact suit, but when I was a teen I did about 4 meets a year in the same suit and the suit was just fine. That means that suit lasted 7.5 years through 2 weight classes and I know for a fact that I am not alone in this experience.
Again.. a bit longer then 2 years don't you think?
Yes I sounded off on the new Inzer gear names. Lighten up and take a joke. If there is anything to get serious about is putting stuff like this in the way of members getting involved. Not by allowing them to wear anything they want or changing the rules to make the lift more. But stupid things like this makes them go away and give the choirs of USAPL/IPF haters more to sing about.
