As you know, Hurricane Rita struck with a Category three [3] force within two [2] weeks of the World Championships in Miami...

Unfortunately, the storm knocked out most of the power, television, telephones [cell and landline], and water... Traffic in most parts of the city and surrounding areas was at a standstill, as most of the traffic lights and signs were either damaged or not working... Billions of dollars of damage was caused and we were most fortunate to even have the contest at all...

The airports were closed as well...

Most people, like myself, had considerable damage to their homes... A great deal of people had problems with either losing the roof of their home or suffering serious damage to it...

Some people still have not gone back to work yet... Some companies will not even be reopening...

As a result of the situation, most people were not table to work, send their kids to school, etc, for nearly two weeks...

So, I guess this may have prevented and precluded many people from being able to attend...
