Re: Please critique my bench

HI Chip,
I watched the 635 that you made and the 655 that you missed. Here are my comments and I hope this helps:655- You had a start command but to be honest, I don't think you'd have ever gotten it that quickliy in a meet. The handoff man has to get out of the way so the head ref can see in order to call the start (that would also get his hands off the bar). You'll also see that the head ref won't give the signal until you are in position with the elbows locked and not moving around. In your vid, someone said start but you were pretty much moving down as they said start. So, I'd practice taking the handoff and holding it. KInd of like doing a heavy walkout and hold for a squat.
The pause was good but you couldn't lock it so that's pretty much the end of it.
635-
This one was better except that it looked like he called the press command as soon as you got it down and there was no start command. It shot up FAST, though. Damn strong.I would practice with the commands and make sure that you have control at the start and that the pause is good.
Where are you located? Maybe we can find a USAPL judge in your area that can help you once or twice before the your meet.
