In Response To: Re: BENCH PRESS SHIRT (Jim Ray)

(MK: "The gentleman’s comment below “More lifters use Titan shirts than any other.” should be qualified. Most lifters in the USAPL wear Titan bench shirts.")
(JR: Thanks for calling a gentleman, but I still believe that this is not your true name. The question was asked on a USAPL forum, so I felt it was pre-qualified.

Oh well that’s fine. I understand the temptation to shoot the messenger when one doesn’t like the message. I see you made a few personal jabs in your response to my response about your Titan promotion. If you’re accustomed to courteous debate you’d remember that referring to another as a gentleman is common courtesy. I’ll avoid playing personal jab ping pong. Although I haven’t competed, I’ve been around the sport for about 14 years and try to help when I have the time.

(MK: "Titan makes good products, however the particular market share in USAPL is due in large part to the ongoing business arrangements the USAPL has had with Titan. Those arrangements have always given Titan the inside track to marketing in USAPL.")
(JR: No. USAPL lifters see big USAPL benches done in Titan and want that shirt.

… And the ongoing business arrangements between USAPL and Titan give Titan the inside track to marketing in USAPL which helps in large part to increase Titan’s market share.

(MK: "Sport wide the majority of powerlifters wear Inzer brand bench press shirts.")
(JR: I'd be willing to bet (a small wager) that Titan sells more shirts than Inzer, period.

There are places for betting but the fact is Inzer makes and sells more bench shirts overall sport wide, including many more varieties, styles, materials and available addons. The biggest unlimited overall squat, bench, deadlift and total have almost always been lifted in Inzer.

(MK: "Even in the USAPL the bigger the benches the more you’ll see Inzer bench shirts among the thicket of Titan shirts.")
(JR: Now, quit making stuff up. Come to Cleveland in Sept. and take notes in the Open class.

Maybe you misunderstood my post. I acknowledged that more lifters in the USAPL wear Titan bench shirts. But even in Titan land when the benches get bigger you can see more Inzer shirts than you usually see in USAPL.

(MK: "Here’s a link to the IPF approved powerlifting gear list.
http://www.powerlifting-ipf.com/Approved-List.51.0.html")
(JR: Didn't I already post this?

Yes, we both posted the link for the lifter.

(MK: "The USAPL now follows the IPF approved list of bench shirts starting at the time Titan entered into the bench shirt market. Before Titan entered the bench shirt market, other brands were allowed in USAPL.")
(JR: What in tarnation does THIS have to do with the question? Sounds like someone is bitter over something....

This information has as much to do with the question as your original comment. Your post read as if you were advertising for Titan as a sponsored lifter. Congratulations if you’re sponsored.
By the tone of your response if you were upset or “bitter” about this very small sample of the facts you shouldn’t be. I’m sure you had nothing to do with it. It’s a fact that the USAPL now follows the IPF approved list of bench shirts starting at the time Titan entered into the bench shirt market. Before Titan entered the bench shirt market, other brands were allowed in USAPL. When Titan started selling bench shirts, the USAPL reduced Titan’s competition by banning non-IPF-approved brands by finally following the IPF rules on personal equipment. Before Titan started selling bench shirts, the USAPL increased Inzer’s competition by allowing brands not approved by the IPF. Again, this is in response to your promotional statement for Titan. The current market share in USAPL is not necessarily the best way to judge which bench shirt is the best.
