Thank you to Harold Gaines and Family

I would just like to thank Harold Gaines and family, friends, and volunteers. As always, they put on a great meet, and were gracious, kind and dignified in doing it. They brought in a great crowd. St. Louis is powerlifting city. The spotters and loaders were great (and it was great to see Vi Mafuli again, only spotting the other guys).

Rick Fowler, Mark Motsinger, and Pat Rankin did a great job announcing (as did the other two guys whose names I can't remember just this second).

The venue and hotel were great, and the room we held the NGB in was like the Roman Forum.

And the real excitement was the lifting. Many classes had close battles only being decided on the last pull. The 110's and supers brought the house to their feet. Perenial giants Ervin Gainer, Wade Hooper, Dave Ricks, Mike Bridges, Tony Harris and Brad Gillingham won again. It is hard to bet against Beck in the 100's. It was also great to see T.J. Hoerner and Jeff Lewis back. Tony Cardella won his sixth national title, and a little technical difficulty provided the opportunity to show that he really is a deadlifter. 380 kg. was only missed due to lost balance. Doc Holloway showed that he is the futre of the 60 kg. class.

There is really too much great about this meet to recount in a short post. But a great time was had by all and look for Harold and his crew to do a great job with the first raw nationals and the American Open next year.
