I've always said that when the wheels fall off and I can't compete anymore I certainly won't start putting meets on because I've seen all the hard work that's involved.

All I've done so far is loan my squat rack, weights, bars, etc., which meant I had to get there very early for set-up, then hang around until the last lifter finishes to start tearing down and hauling my stuff out to the truck.

I've heard that very few meet organizers turn a profit holding meets so it must come down to the love of the sport in its purest form. My hat's off to the folks that provide the venue and means to where us lifters can come compete and maybe get a tee-shirt, plaque or trophy.

I do think most meets are reasonably priced considering all that's involved.
