"Holly smokes Jason, you rambled on and on and still didn't say how much you thought would be a reasonable charge for a meet. "

LOL. That is really because, given the costs invloved, each meet director would have to figure out his costs, what he can count on from sponsors, what he wants to provide etc. That can vary based on a situation. For example, a couple of the 99 dollar meets were based at hotels in large ball rooms so I could understand that the meet directors costs were going to be high. I paid my entry and lifted. However, another of the 99 dollar meets was held at the meet directors own gym. I opted not to go to that one.

Also, for national meets, the met director also may assume costs over and above those of a normal meet - flying in and/or housing officials, additional rooms etc so the fee's might be higher.

Based on my own experience in my area for local and state meets, I'd say that 55-65 is about right. You probably won't go broke and you can take care of the lifters and your help.

"I have to hand it to you once you get a thought in your head you are off."

Thanks! LOL

"Anyway, I think you could get away with charging 50 to 60 bucks and still do ok. Of course we have only done bench meets so maybe it would be different for full power meets. I would still not charge anyone to watch."

Ok, I never understood this one. Why would a bench meet be less expensive than regular meet?

I get that it is only one lift but the costs to run it are almost the same. You still have the same drug test costs, the same award costs, same T-shirt costs, the same food costs, the same venue costs, you may need fewer spotters unless the meet is bigger (which is entirely possible with a bench meet)but other than that the costs are the same.
