SOUTHERN OHIO PL and BENCH CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 4th Annual USAPL Southern Ohio Powerlifting and Bench press Championships were held on 18 August at the superb Neo Limits Fitness Center which is located in Centerville Ohio on 51 E. Spring Valley Road. This is a great facility to host a powerlifting meet and the Neo staff did a great job setting things up. There were 37 lifters for this event from Indiana, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Ohio.

A good portion of the competitors lifted RAW (belt and wrist wraps only) which is becoming more popular. The best Male powerlifter was Brady Singleton with a 540 LB squat, 425 LB bench, and a 580 LB deadlift in the 198 LB weight class. The best Male RAW powerlifter was Dustin McGlothen with a 500 LB squat, 355 LB bench, and a 625 LB deadlift in the super heavy weight class. The best Male bencher was Steve Spinelli with a 535 LB bench in the 220 LB weight class. The best female powerlifter was Jillian Ramirez with a 260 LB squat, 160 LB bench, and a 305 LB deadlift in the 148 LB weight class. The best female bencher was Nancy Proctor with a 145 LB bench in the 123 LB weight class.

The meet promoter was David and Julia Ricks who had a lot of help making this event successful. The referees for this event were Stephanie Dzurnak (2007 Womens World Bench Bronze medalist, Greg Page (2006 Masters National and World Powerlifting Champion), Margaret Reagan (National and World Powerlifting Champion). The computer scores were superbly ran by International referees Cathy and Joe Marksteiner. The mighty Gary Kanaga was the announcer for the event. Dr Larry Miller brought down his ER competition squat and bench equipment for the meet. Ervin Gainer (2007 Mens National Champion) and Eric Curry was also there to assist.

And finally I want to thank the sponsors for this event which were Neo Limits Fitness Center, Bill Grant Sports Nutrition, Walnut Creek Senior Living Campus, and Titan Support systems
