First, go to the USAPL home page at http://www.usapowerlifting.com/index.shtml, click on 'Links', find your state, click on your state's home page (if they have one), click on 'Calendar', then there's usually an entry form for an upcoming meet you can print out and send in with the fee, which is usually $50-$70. There's also a main calendar on the USAPL home page.

Some states' home pages have a list of PL trainin gyms you could check out.

Visit plenty of powerlifting web sites for training tips, programs, videos, etc. Also, check in with a few different PL forums and bounce questions off expwerienced lifters. You could also ask on the forums where a good PL training gym is that's near your home.

It's best if you train with other competitors, as you'll learn correct technique, rules, form, etc. If you get stuck, shoot me an email. I have a web site for powerlifters with some info on it at www.RHFinancial.org/powerlifting
