Re: The IPF rules aren't valid

The updated rule was posted several times in the previous thread. The rule was amended at the IPF Congress in Miami. The change means that lifters who compete in international championships of other federations will not be able to compete in NAPF or IPF meets for one year. Lifting in a meet with foreign lifters does not constitute a breach. Nor does attending a non-IPF international championship. Athletes who compete in sanctioned/unsanctioned local and national meets will not be affected. It is only the world class of the USAPL family who will be effected.
The updated rule is different from the rule pertaining to competing against banned athletes. That rule is still in effect and Brian Siders has been warned by the IPF for violations. The IPF apparently will issue sanctions and bans, even if Americans object. WADA lawyers have told me that they would never pursue, say, Lance Armstrong for competing against a banned athlete. Neither would the international cycling body. Neither should the IPF. In Norway, I will move to have both rules amended or removed. Until then, I am compiling a list of USAPL/IPF banned athletes to allow our lifters the chance to avoid running afoul of the law. These rules strike against core American beliefs and continue to impact our lifters disproportionately. We need to work together to make our voices heard at the highest levels.
