Yes, Aunt Reggie, I did make an appearance at a powerlifting meet. My training partners had been harassing me for being a former lifter and encouraging me to check out this "new" sport called powerlifting. The final straw was Koufos telling me he had a bigger total that I did because I didn't have one anymore....so I got my entry form mailed in at the last minute (sorry about that Lance!)

Anyway, my training, indicated to me that qualifying for Men's Nationals wasn't in the cards at this point, the bench is still too low so I just went to see where I was in front of the judges. I was able to get 26 out of 27 white lights and did manage to talk to the head ref AND get a nosebleed while squatting but I wasn't confident enough to Challenge the refs to redlight my beautiful lifts so I'm only part way back to my old cocky self. LOL

Squats - went 440 484 523 9 whites - just wore a belt and wrist wraps. Was probably good for 540-550 but wasn't certain beforehand. I'd done my speed work on the box in suit bottoms and my max effort work without suit bottoms. I figured that I was somewhere between 475 and 550 without the suit. Huge range so I started light.

Benches - 242, 286?, 303 - 8 whites
Main goal here was to get 300 in front of judges without the shirt and with the shoulder intact. Mission accomplished. No shoulder pain at all. Right side (the injured shoulder) slowed a bit and I got the red light on that side. Need to get stronger and bigger. Only weighed 209 so I've got room to grow.

Deadlifts - pulled conventional. I haven't done much sumo in the last couple of years so much so that conventional almost seems normal right now for me. Ewwww. I'll start training sumo soon. Hate all that moving stuff. LOL Lifts went 529, 584, 606 all pretty smooth and easy. 606 felt a little hard but Mando showed me the clip on his phone and it looked pretty easy.

So, first 9 for 9. and a LOT of work to do... squats and benches are about 75 lbs off from my best. Dead was actually pretty close to my best conventional. Getting back to the gym Wednesday
AM.

Saw some lifters that got me a little fired up - John Planas is healthy and looking thick and strong and Shawn Buckley is a guy I saw lift in his first meet a few years back and is putting up really good numbers. A couple of youngsters from UCLA were pretty damn strong too. It was good to see some old friends that I hadn't seen for a long time.

A comeback? I told Lance not to call it a comeback because who knows if I'll come back! Magic 8 Ball says... it's a possibility. LOL
