High School Nationals

Congratulations and thanks to Tod Miller and everyone involved with the 2008 High School Nationals in Michigan this past weekend. The hotel and venue was first rate and the volunteers did a incredible job of executing a national championship comprised of over 300 lifters on three continuosly running competion platforms. Most impressive of course were the 349 lifters who competed over three days. It is truly inspiring to see these outstanding young athletes perform on the platform. A huge thanks also goes to the coaches and parents who truly embrace powerlifting as a great sport for kids to participate in. The noise and energy of the crowd support is incredible.

It has been said many times before by others and I will repeat it again.

If you have any opportunity to attend a USAPL High School Nationals- GO!

If you are a high school athlete who has thought about competing in this meet- DO IT!

If you know a HS athlete who could compete at this meet- HELP GET THEM THERE!

If you have the capacity to referee or help out at the competition of this size- PLEASE DO SO!

I have been involved in powerlifting for over 15 years in many capacities- lifter, referee, meet director, state chair, EC, competed at numerous national championships and several IPF world BP championships and without question this past weekend was one of the most inspiring experiences I have had in the sport.

Again, congratulations and thank you to all involved!

Lance
