When I've flow down there, I found it was more convenient to fly to Austin and rent a car to drive to Killeen.

Connecting flights to killeen can be a bit of a pain because there aren't that many to begin with so your either laying over in Houston for a couple of hours of hustling to make your connection.

Flying to Killeen directly will also run you about $40-$70 more than going to Austin. So, if your only staying for a few days a car rental will cost about the same.
