I flew direct into Dallas then rented a car. It was a 2-2.5 hour drive as I recall. Flying 2 segments would have put me in much later than the flight/drive combo.

Direct to Houston or Dallas is probably your best bet, I don't think you'll be able to get direct to Austin.

Plus I had a car to get from the hotel to the convention center (you will need this).
