In Response To: need bench advice (Dave Geistlinger)

I've seen many benchers get red-lighted for touching the bar too much below the lower pecs. I wear a Titan Fury bench shirt and have always been lucky, in that, the off-the shelf bench shirts have the 'bubble' or most resistance right at the base of my pecs. However, if the shirt isn't seated enough and the chest area isn't pulled down far enough, the bubble is closer to the neck and it throws my groove way off, making the bar drift upwards and can hit the rack before lockout.

For those who are having to touch near their belly, it would seem that maybe the shirt is pulled down a bit too low or isn't a good enough fit to touch down in an acceptable area. That could be that maybe some lifters have a longer torso or shorter chest area.
