ENTRY REMINDER FOR 2006 AMERICAN OPEN *LINK* *PIC*

Posted By: Lance Slaughter
Date: Thursday, 9 November 2006, at 4:58 p.m.

A friendly reminder that the entry deadline for the 2006 USAPL American Open is fast approaching. This competition will be held in Palm Springs, CA at the recently renovated Palm Springs Convention Center on December 2-3.

The contest provides lifters of all levels an outstanding opportunity to compete in a national-level atmosphere. National and IPF category referees will be available for athletes to set American and IPF world records.

Among the notables entered to compete at this meet are former national champion and IPF medalist Charr Gahagan and strongman and powerlifting national champion and former IPF medalist Odd Haugen.

Athletes interested in competing in the Bench Press Invitational on Saturday evening are encouraged to contact me at lanceoslaughter@yahoo.com to confirm your participation.

Please be sure to make travel and hotel reservations to get the best rates. The Hilton Palm Springs is the official meet hotel and is offering a group rate of $99. Please call 800-522-6900 and refer to group code “Powerlifting”.

The Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) is 1 ½ miles away and has direct service via Alaska, American, Continental, Delta, Horizon, United Airlines and US Airways. A hotel courtesy shuttle is available to and from the airport.

The meet venue and hotel are literally within steps of what makes Palm Springs a great destination- the new Spa Casino, open 24-hours for your enjoyment, fantastic restaurants of every type, world class shopping, sidewalk cafes, nightclubs and theatres.

We are doing everything we can to ensure that this is a first-rate event and you are welcome and encouraged to contact me if we can do anything to enhance your trip to Palm Springs.

I hope to have the pleasure of seeing you there!

One last note… the current temperature today in Palm Springs is 83 degrees.
