TO ALL,

On April 6,2009, Joe Zarella passed away after a number of strokes. Joe was a vital part of the 1970's powerlifting boom. He will be known as the first promoter of women's powerlifting. His first women's national championship held in Nashua, NH which drew over 70 women competitors. Joe resided in Nashua for most of his life. He chaired the national powerlifting chairmanship from approx. 1975 to 1980. Joseph Raymond Zarella, a dear friend, will be greatly missed.
