In Response To: USAPL rule question (Jake Cannon)

I gotta couple rules questions haveing never lifted in a national or non-last minute USAPL meet.

:1. What shirts can or can't I wear?

Pretty much any single ply shirt from INZER, Titan, Metal or Crain that is IPF approved.

For Inzer, the Blast, HD Blast, HPHD Blast, EHPHD Blast, Phenom, Rage or Rage X are legal.

Titan's Fury and F6 are legal. I'm not sure of the name of Crain and Metals individual shirts.

: Could I wear a shirt with the INZER logo on it?

Only if you want to look great on the platform and lift big weights! If you've got the huge INZER logo, even better.

2. Whats the sink rule? (not sure if thats what its called, bu the rule where the bar cant sink into ur chest)

Garbage disposal goes on the left side.

Other than that, the rule is basically that once the bar stops on your chest and you pause, you can sink it again to start the ascent. In the old days, some people would pause at one point, we'll call it point A, when they'd get the press command, they'd sink the bar a little lower to get some momentum/thrust going and then press up from there. The only difference now, is there is no verbal press command.

Not really sure why I needed a point A. LOL

3. How long is the best pause? (until bar stops moving?)

While there is no set time, you need to bring the bar to a full and complete stop before pressing up. Your mileage may vary ..... since the press command was removed, the pauses have gotten shorter and shorter.

4. When breaking parallel, must I go VERY deep? or will going hip crease below knee be fine?

The rule states that the top of the thigh at the hip must drop below the top of the thigh at the knee. Find this point on video and have your partners judge you as cruelly and harshly as possible.

Then post the video. If you can pass internet judging, you'll be ok. LOL More squats are missed on depth (well, except for the guys that get stapled) that anything else and 99% of the time the guys partners were telling them "dude, you were there" or "Bro, you buried it."

That or hook up with a National ref and have him check out your squat.
