Joe Marksteiner -

As the inventor of www.squatprecision.com I sincerely appreciate your interest, comments and viewpoint. Let me make a few important notations:

1. The engineering of the device and pure physics of the squat precision mechanism will in no way produce a BEEP unless the top of the thigh has broken a parallel angle. The physics involved simply does not allow the electrical connection to occur unless parallel is broken.

2. Please note the device beeping in the first warm up set. The camera is well above the hip and knee joint, and it is as clear as a bell that each and every rep is slighlty below parallel - an acceptable legal depth. Its not much under a legal depth, but that is the whole point of the device - to maximize the one rep. by going only slightly below parallel.

3. The next two sets the camera is well above the hip / knee, but due to the angle of the shot, its not crystal clear, but you can tell the squats are going deep enough, and the device is beeping.

4. Here is what is going on re: the last set.
The squatter, Ken, asked that I give him a spot, so I had to place the camera on a bench that was BELOW the hip / knee joint. The camera being placed BELOW the knee, it gives the depth a slight appearance of being just shy of below parallel, but as I have stated, the device simply cannot beep unless the top of the thigh descends just a fraction below parallel.

Summary: In addition to being an incredible training device to maximize one rep . legal depth squats, I would hope in the near future that some of the major federations would allow the option for a squatter to use one during a meet. Reason? The front and side judges will always have the final say on depth, but I assure you, when a side judges' eyes are above the hip / knee area , or even dead parallel, a lifter using this device, the judges upon hearing the beep will be much more inclined to say : green light vs red on some close lifts, because again, this device remains silent at parallel, but go slightly below, and you get the BEEP. Mark, if you are involved in lifting at a gym, please encourage the Owner to purchase one. This way you could train, watch others train, and I know you would be convinced this device is dead on - meaning you get a loud BEEP at a mere fraction below parallel. Thanks again for your comment. Much appreciated. Mark at www.youtube.com/benching341
