Robert -

I greatly appreciate your insight as to your visual perspective of USAPL, and IPF legal depth. This I will not argue. However, if your recent comment re: the video " IPF legal depth " is not even at parallel do you realize the simple laws of physics will not allow this device to produce a BEEP unless you have BROKEN parallel? I sit each unit on a perfectly flat surface upon manufacturing, and they NEVER BEEP. There is no way to create a BEEP with this device unless you do in fact break parallel. That would defy the laws of physics, and although the Squat Precision is a heck of a device - it follows the laws of physics, its not " above " the laws of physics. Your comments are a prime example of why a lifter should have this device, and bring it to their next meet. Before the meet begins, he/she should squat down with no weight on his /her back and hold whatever exact depth all three judges state is below legal depth. With the strap loose, the lifter could have his training partner slowly move the device up the thigh until the second it BEEPS. Once it does, the training partner can tighten the strap. The lifter can now stand and cinch the device down using the camber buckle, which now will be very tight - almost like part of your leg. At this point, the lifter can make a visual picture of exactly where the device is now located. If they always wear their suit in the same leg position, they could even put a black magic marker line, where the top of the device should line up. Lots of ways to gauge this: 3,4,5 fingers from the top of the knee, etc. It will be easy for the lifter to remember the location.

At this point, the device will require that exact depth to get the audio BEEP. You may say that alot of hassle? Not when you are trying to achieve your highest pound, legal depth squat. And we all know there are no extra points given for squatting too deep.

I sincerely am not arguing your point of what depth you consider USAPL and IPF National legal depths are. I am just emphasizing the point if you follow the above procedure, you will get the device to BEEP at whatever depth you desire.

In this video, if the device were dropped down another inch ot two on the thigh, it will take a deeper squat to get the BEEP. This most recent video was made because other lifters were saying the " Seeing is Believing " video was not deep enough for IPF etc. That video was intentionally made to show the device can detect as little as a fraction below parallel like Sam Byrd's 1050 squat at 198 bodyweight. His federation gave him a world record nod. Do a you tube search for Sam Byrd. Are you saying his effort was any lower than the Seeing is Believing video? at www.youtube.com/benching341

The final and most important point I would like to make is the Squat Precision device will detect ANY and ALL Federation's legal depths. After your input which I do sincerely appreciate, I really hope I will get an experienced IPF or USAPL lifter to purchase this device soon, and make a video showing that the device hits your legal depth each and every time flawlessly, without question. With their permission, I would then use the video on www.squatprecision.com for all of your lifters in USAPL and IPF to see. Anyone interested ?
